Begüm Mulazimoglu, who arrived at Miami International Airport to travel from Miami to London, was detained by federal authorities after being found with approximately 30 kilograms of drugs in her suitcases. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers noticed the smell of drugs coming from two suitcases and alerted narcotics units.
When the suitcases were opened, inspections determined that they belonged to Mulazimoglu, who was preparing to travel to the United Kingdom. She was stopped while about to board the aircraft and taken to an interrogation room. The passenger, whose baggage tags and ticket numbers matched the suitcases, admitted that the luggage belonged to her. A total of 60 packages of illegal substances were seized from the two suitcases.
Mulazimoglu is being prosecuted on serious charges of drug trafficking.
